Privacy policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information The Green Techpreneur collects, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short and use plain words. If anything is unclear, email us at marianne@thegreentechpreneur.com.

Who we are

The Green Techpreneur is a magazine for climate founders and investors at thegreentechpreneur.com. It is run by The Green Techpreneur Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15112847), registered office: Flat 6, 14a St Margaret’s Street, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, BA15 1DA, United Kingdom. We are the “controller” of your personal information under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect and why

When you tell us your story. If you fill in our founder or investor interview, we collect your name, email address, company or fund, your Climate Marketplace profile link, your answers and any photos you upload. We use them to write and publish a feature about you, and to contact you about it. We will let you know as soon as your feature is approved for publication. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time before publication.

When you contact us or ask about advertising and partnerships. We collect your name, email address, company and message so we can reply. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

When you subscribe to our newsletter. Our newsletter is delivered by Substack. We use your email address to send it to you, based on your consent. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.

When we invite people to be featured. We invite founders and investors from the Climate Marketplace community to share their stories. To do this we use business contact details from their Climate Marketplace profile or public professional sources, such as a company website or LinkedIn. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in finding and telling climate founders’ stories. You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time, and we will.

When you work with us. If you sponsor, advertise or partner with us, we keep the contact and billing details we need to deliver the work and meet our accounting obligations. Our lawful basis is the contract with you and our legal obligations.

When you visit the site. Our web host keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and working. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.

Cookies and your browser

We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies on this site. WordPress sets essential cookies only when someone logs in to manage the site. Our interview form has a “save and finish later” option that keeps your answers in your own browser (local storage) until you send them. It never reaches us until you press send, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Some pages include content from other services, such as a Substack sign-up button or an embedded video or post. Those services may set their own cookies, under their own policies. If we ever add analytics that needs cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • service providers who help us run the magazine, such as our website host, Substack (newsletter), our email and CRM tools, and payment providers such as Stripe for partner invoices. They act on our instructions and must keep your information secure;
  • Climate Marketplace, when a published feature links to your listing there. Climate Marketplace is a separate platform with its own terms and privacy policy;
  • professional advisers, such as our accountants, where needed;
  • anyone we are legally required to share it with, such as a court or regulator.

Your published feature, including your name, company, photos and the edited answers it is based on, is public once it goes live, and we may share it in our newsletter and on social media.

International transfers

Some of our service providers store information outside the UK, including in the United States. When that happens we rely on UK adequacy regulations (including the UK-US data bridge) or the UK’s approved contract terms to protect your information.

How long we keep it

  • Interview answers and photos that are not published: deleted within 12 months of submission.
  • Published features: kept as part of our archive. You can ask us to correct a feature, or to remove it, and we will consider every request fairly.
  • Contact and partnership enquiries: up to 2 years after our last contact.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
  • Business and accounting records: 6 years, as UK law requires.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to restrict or stop using your information, including for direct marketing;
  • ask us to transfer information you gave us to you or another organisation;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To use any of these rights, email marianne@thegreentechpreneur.com. We will reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

The Green Techpreneur is written for adults working in climate tech and investment. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
